Nintendo
The Nintendo64, is it as powerful as it
was believed? Some of the technical savvy at the show said that Mairo64
didn't push any more polygons than...say....Wipeout . Even more, some of the other
effects like Trileanear MipMap Interpolation weren't being used, while
this could be because the programmers just didn't want to use them, they said
it was more likely that it caused an unacceptable slowdown to use them.
(I think that it might be that the programmers didn't know how. After all
haven't we been hearing that the development system is "cryptic"). Anyhow, the technology being incorporated into the machine is awesome (it always takes time to utilize a machine to its full potential, look at MKI compared to MKIII). Being as unbias as I can, I think the Nintendo 64 is going to be the best game machine available come September. The Nintendo 64 is definitly going to be a major player when it enters the US market:
The Sega Saturn has some good things going for it, namely Sega's arcade
division, with rad games like Daytona USA and Sega Rally coming out twice a year or so, the Saturn has a constant supply of games that have
proven themselves in the arcades. The Saturn also has a lot of support from
third-party developers to fuel the system's sales. But none of that really matters in competition with Sony, they have a deal with Namco to get lots of arcade conversions of popular games like Tekken, and CyberSled .
Head to my Saturn Page for out look, tech specs, and more.
GENISIS: Sega is apparently no longer supporting this system (although VectorMan was a great game!). It's fading fast as the Saturn is becoming Sega's flagship product. . .It's all good...!
Go to Sega's Site for more info and press releases.
Sony
Sony has some truly awesome games like Wipeout and Twisted Metal ( ya' know it has cars and trucks and you can... like...shoot...stuff and stuff) not to mention games like Crazy Ivin, Battle Arena Toshinden and Tekken. Were talking major ass kicking potential here. Go to my PSX page to get the tech specs.
Visit Sony's Homeland for even more info.
The 3D0 won't be upgraded to M2 any time soon. That wierd Matsushita purchased the rights to the M2 to make some suped up DVD drive. As the
Core system is concerned software suport is still strong and it will be a
while before it dies (although it's way underpowered). There's still a
chance that Tripin' Trip will come out with another add on that surpasses
the M2. Check out the 3DO's tech specs or visit
the 3DO home page
Note: Trip said recently that the Nintendo 64 was really only 32 bits. this is an outright lie. the ultras...Nintendo 64's CPU is a true 64 bit and the Reality Co-Prosser is 128(but they already called it the Nintendo 64. Oh well all's fair in video game war, industry wide or on a console.)
