A Day With Dailey Pickles

It's a Harry Pickle family tradition to attend the Hot Dog Safari in Boston, and 1996 was no different. And of course, the tradition also includes having a gherkin good time! I was fortunate enough this year to have a chat with George Salvitti of the Dailey Pickle Company. We had an early morning chat while munching on pickles (which of course make a pickle of a breakfast) before the hot dog mayhem got underway...

Harry: How long have you been in the pickle business?

George: I've been selling pickles for quite some time, but pickles have always been a part of my life much like any person. (Certainly a response I agree with)

Harry: What's your favorite kind of pickle?

George: Naturally I love all kinds of pickles, especially Dailey Pickles. (A pickle plug, but who can fault him? Dailey Pickles are great!)

Harry: Have you found yourself to be more appealing to people when they hear of your pickle prowess?

George: Harry...I must say that in my day I had to beat the women off with a pickle, but I am now happily married to my Pretty Pickle Princess.

Harry: Was there a pickle proposal involved?

George: Why, we all know the romance involved in the pickle. I used it to my advantage, presenting my pickle proposal of matrimony over a great gherkin under the moonlight. (The pickle at work again!)

Harry: Thanks for chatting George. Any final words of pickle wisdom for the youngsters out there?

George: Always carry a kosher dill wherever you go. You never know when you'll need to make friends in a dark alley. (Great advice worth heeding to)

As you can see, George was not only a great person to interview, but a pickle fanatic through and through. Dailey Pickle is lucky to have such a dedicated employee who not only loves pickles, but is a close personal friend of Captain Pickle.

The Hot Dog Safari was as great as ever, feel free to check out the write-up of the event and the Harry Pickle/Captain Pickle pickle family reunion.
